Have you ever seen the night sky live through a telescope? From my experience as an amateur astronomer/hobbyist for several years, I can tell you that most people are surprised at what’s “up there!”
Here’s a chance to observe the evening sky through telescopes during Rowan’s Observatory Open House night.
Astronomy faculty and club members will be on-hand to operate the telescopes and guide visitors as they view objects in the night sky.
The event begins in the Rowan planetarium with a brief virtual preview of the night sky. Visitors will then be escorted to the 4th floor observatory, where they will look through telescopes to view the night sky.
The observation deck can get cold up there, so be sure to dress for the weather! If the event is cancelled due to weather, Rowan will post a tweet here.
Getting to the planetarium requires a
5-minute walk from parking lot A-1. See the two maps below.
To help you find me in the parking lot, I’ll wait in my car in the A-1 lot between 6:30 and 6:45 PM and float a yellow balloon from it. I’ll also bring the balloon inside with me to the planetarium foyer/lounge.
Rowan’s address is 201 Mullica Hill Rd, Glassboro, NJ 08028, but to get close to the parking lot, I suggest using this address in Google maps: Mullica Hill Road and Girard Road North, Glassboro, NJ. (See the first map below.)
